Ken began his long Civil Service career in central London but after working in policy, IT and management services roles ended his career at Longbenton as HR Director and executive board member of the Contributions Agency. He left the Civil Service to found his own limited company providing interim management and consultancy services to a number of Central Government Departments including the Inland Revenue, Ministry of Defence, Home Office and the Department of Transport. He was involved in setting up the Learning and Skills Council, the Assets Recovery Agency and, in the wake of Lord Cullen’s report on the Ladbroke Grove train crash, the DfT Rail Accident Investigation Branch. His most recent interim assignment saw him act as Head of HR for the Serious Fraud Office in London.

He has years of experience across all aspects of HR from the development of HR strategy and policy to everything that an HR professional meets in day to day activity – recruitment and selection, pay and rewards, learning and development, employment law. He has recruited a variety of professionals and graduates for service in Central Government roles including lawyers, accountants, scientists, forensic experts, senior police officers and senior members of HM Forces. He has also lectured on a part time basis at the University of Northumbria and also Gateshead College.

Outside of work he is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts and was previously a Non Executive Board Member of the Wansbeck NHS Trust.
